Puff bars are battery-operated electronic devices having a heating element that converts liquid from an e-liquid cartridge into an aerosol inhaled by the user. The aerosol is often packed with nicotine and other types of addictive substances. A puff bar may also have coloring and flavorings.

According to the American Lung Association, people who inhale ingredients present in puff bars may expose to greater levels of toxins. This way, these ingredients can cause irreversible damage to the lungs, which may give birth to many lung diseases.

How do Puff Bars affect your Lungs?

There is no clarity about this thing. But puff bars have been found to contain particles and chemicals that have a direct relationship with lung diseases. These lung disorders may include asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). Apart from that, vaping through puff bars can also create damage to the lungs by instigating inflammation. Slowly and slowly, chronic lung diseases can also take place.

When you inhale a puff bar, many chemicals are going to enter your body. Diacetyl, acrolein, and formaldehyde are some common substances found in a puff bar’s e-liquid or produced after it gets heated up. It all leads to an increase in the chances of lung diseases.

Types of Lung Diseases Caused by Puff Bars

If you go with regular use of puff bars, your lungs will genuinely get affected. Many lung diseases are linked to vaping, which are mentioned below:

  • Popcorn Lung

This lung disease has another name, Bronchiolitis Obliterans, which is a rare condition resulting from damage to the small airways of the lungs. This disease was originally found when popcorn factory employees began falling ill. The major culprit behind this disease was diacetyl, which was a food additive for simulating butter flavor in microwave popcorn.

When it comes to a puff bar, diacetyl is added to e-liquid to give it a flavor and improve the taste. If you are using a puff bar and suffering from symptoms like wheezing, coughing, chest pain, and shortness of breath, then you may be at risk of BO.

  • Lipoid Pneumonia

Vaping-associated lipoid pneumonia gets developed when oily substances from e-liquid enter your lungs. After entering your lungs, oily substances spark an inflammatory response. This lung disease has symptoms like chronic cough, coughing up blood or blood-tinged mucus, and shortness of breath.

To treat this lung disease, there is not as such treatment other than supportive care. Lungs get healed on their own. Once you eliminate vaping from your life, your lungs start to repair on their own.

  • Primary Spontaneous Pneumothorax

This disease is completely related to the collapsed lungs. It takes place when your lungs have a hole through which oxygen escapes. It can be the result of an injury like a knife wound or gunshot. In this condition, air blisters are ruptured on the top of the lungs and create tiny tears.

You may not get familiar with this condition unless they rupture. But when it comes to vaping, it has increased the chances of bursting these blisters, which lead to lung collapse. Symptoms include shoulder pain or sharp chest, difficulty breathing, and shortness of breath.

Puff bars are not good for the lungs if they are in regular use.
